Alan M. Goda is a senior partner who focuses primarily on representing foreign and domestic clients in all phases of their business activities. His work includes mergers and acquisitions, real property development, real property transactions, and legal matters relating to insurance, government regulations, transportation, estates, trust banking and finance. Having lived in Japan, Mr. Goda is fluent in Japanese and has assisted clients based in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States and Hawaii in all phases of their business endeavors. Mr. Goda has also served, since 1993, as Chairman of the Board for Pacific Guardian Life Insurance Company, Limited, and, since 2004, as Chairman of the Board for Prince Resorts Hawaii, Inc.

Mr. Goda has also served, since 1993, as Chairman of the Board for Pacific Guardian Life Insurance Company, Limited, and Chair of Prince Resort from 2004-2008.

Education

Mr. Goda received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii- at Manoa, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan School of Law.  He was admitted to the Hawaii Bar in 1970.

Prior Employment

Mr. Goda served as law clerk to Justice Masaji Marumoto of the Hawaii Supreme Court. He later served as a deputy attorney general for the State of Hawaii in the area of environmental law until he joined and was later made a partner of the law firm of Padgett, Greeley and Marumoto.

Professional Associations and Licenses

Mr. Goda is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association.  

Military Service

Mr. Goda served in the U.S. Army Armor Corps and attained the rank of captain until he resigned his commission in 1975.
