Our Summer Associates Program is generally geared towards second-year law students. In order to seek out the best candidates, the firm actively recruits at many law schools through their on-campus interview programs. Students attending schools that we aren't visiting should forward their cover letters, resumes, transcripts and a brief writing sample to the hiring partner to determine eligibility for further consideration.

Our Summer Associates' Program is designed to allow both you and us to learn about your capabilities as an attorney and to allow us to tailor the experience to best support you in meeting that potential.  Our program also gives you a great insight into both our firm’s culture and an opportunity to work in many of our practice areas.

During your summer, we create a program which provides you with the opportunity to work on real cases for real clients.  Our summer program is run by a summer program coordinator who is responsible for ensuring that our summer associates have an opportunity to work on different assignments.  Further, each Summer Associate is assigned a mentor who is available as a resource for the Summer Associate.

In addition to researching assignments, there are opportunities to meet with clients, attend depositions, court and arbitration hearings, and weekly educational lunches. In addition to participating in various facets of the practice, Summer Associates will engage in numerous social activities and meet and interact with lawyers and staff members on an informal basis.  In addition, over the course of the summer, our attorneys and select guest speakers are invited in to provide seminars on select issues and practice areas for the benefit of our summer associates.

Our Summer Associates receive written evaluations for each and every assignment you complete over the summer.  Halfway through the summer, the summer program coordinator and your mentor meet with you to assess how the summer has gone and to determine what can be done to improve over the second half of the summer.

At the end of the summer, our summer associates meet with the members of the firm for a full firm interview. This is also a chance to demonstrate your abilities and your potential to become a New Associate with KS&G upon graduation from law school.
