Born and raised in Honolulu, Mr. Kobayashi received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Administrative Studies from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and his Juris Doctor degree from Seattle University School of Law.
Mr. Kobayashi started his practice with Kobayashi Sugita & Goda in 1994. In 2007, then a partner with the firm handling complex commercial and construction litigation matters, Mr. Kobayashi left the islands and his practice to serve as General Manager of the Outlook Inn and New Leaf Café on Orcas Island in Washington state. There he was responsible for all aspects of the business and day-to-day operations for both the transient accommodations and the food & beverage/catering services, including short and long term financial and organizational planning, marketing, human resources, business development, contract negotiations, drafting and administration, payroll and corporate filings.
In 2014, Mr. Kobayashi returned to Honolulu to serve as President & CEO of ‘Ahahui Koa Anuenue, a designated fundraising non-profit corporation supporting the University of Hawaii Athletic Department, responsible for raising over $6 million dollars annually through premium ticket & parking sales and booster club contributions.
In 2017, Mr. Kobayashi returned to his law practice with Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda and will continue his focus on commercial litigation. He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and admitted to practice before all state courts in the State of Hawaii and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
