Education/Work Experience

Mr. Tongg received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1984 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.  Upon graduating, Mr. Tongg worked as a project engineer/construction manager for nine years in Hawaii.  He then attended law school at the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law.   While at law school, Mr. Tongg was a member of the law review and published “The Qualitex Quandary: Was Trademark Protection for Color Per Se Clearly Resolved?”, Hawaii L. Rev. 445 (1996).

  • Sale of Coconut Marketplace Shopping Center and loan defeasance
  • Purchase/financing of the Koolau Golf Course in 1998 and the subsequent sale in 2005
