Caycie Gusman joined Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda in 2013 and practices in the firm’s commercial litigation section. Ms. Gusman graduated cum laude from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. During law school, Ms. Gusman served as Technical Editor of the University of Hawaii Law Review, received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Organizing for Social Change, and was a volunteer law clerk for the Honorable Barbara P. Richardson and the Honorable Sabrina McKenna. In addition, Ms. Gusman played soccer for the University of Hawaii during her first year in law school, worked as a research assistant for Jill Ramsfield, and coached youth soccer for Riggers Hawaii Soccer Club.

Ms. Gusman was also a member of the Native American Moot Court Team, where she received the first place award for Best Advocate in the 21st Annual National NALSA Moot Court Competition in Portland, Oregon. Ms. Gusman also received the second place award for Best Advocate and the second place award for Best Brief in the 20th Annual National NALSA Moot Court Competition in Honolulu, Hawaii in her second year of law school.

 

Ms. Gusman graduated with honors from the Kamehameha Schools, and attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she graduated cum laude and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Ms. Gusman received the Rutgers Business School Outstanding Achievement Award for her academic and athletic achievements. In addition, Ms. Gusman was a team captain and member of the Rutgers University Women’s Soccer Team that was consecutively ranked as one of the top 20 teams in the nation. Ms. Gusman received numerous athletic awards, and was a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society—Chi Alpha Sigma NJ Delta.

 

Ms. Gusman is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before all state courts in the State of Hawaii and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
